Hi Everyone,

I just installed the tweak "No Update" from Cydia, I think you should install this tweak as well as 5.1 has dropped and we don't want to accidently update our iPhone 4S's or iPad 2's

Going to the update section in the settings app will just bring up a popup saying you have the tweak installed and its worksing.

This is the only public thread regarding the Battery Fix tweak on the VIP section of the repo.

This is a results only topic and any fighting and or directing this thread to other forums who obviously only hate us for who we are is prohibited. Post will get removed and you could possibly take a vacation.

Its that simple. Be respectful and all is well.

With that said lets get some things straight. No where does it say that this fixes battery, battery fix is simply the name, from original release the description says "This can help alleviate the iOS 5.0/5.0.1 battery issues & increase battery life."

Many users have posted great results, if this does not work for you I'm sorry about that and you can move on to the next thing, there is tones of settings to help alleviate battery issues on iOS5, everyone is going to have different results depending on what they like to run on their device, do they have siri, do they have raise to speak on, do they have location services, do they use wifi sync or iCloud, tones of little settings to play around with so yes everyone is going to experience different results, why are there reviews on the internet saying that they have received better battery life with this tweak if it doesn't work ?

Ask yourself all of this and make your decision on what you find. Not go off of people telling you what to think.

You can thank chris for getting me to do this because he was thinking of getting an aTV so I was curious of compatibility if I'm gonna help that poor old bastard setup his aTV. Now of course the reason I held back so many firmware versions was because 'compatibility' luckily I have quite a few SHSH blobs on file for select firmware and a while ago I found the firmware that all my favorite tweaks worked on, at that time barely anything worked and being that I was used to the tweaks I had I wasn't about to give them up easy, now your wondering 'what are these tweaks you love so much' well I'm about to tell you. For anyone wondering I actually forgot to check which firmware I was on before restoring, but looking at my SHSH blobs I am pretty sure I was on:

AppleTV 4.3 (4.2.1) 8F202

Up until just recently this was the only build that all the software I was running worked perfectly. And yes I tested the following builds:

AppleTV 4.2.1 (4.1.1) 8C154
AppleTV 4.3 (4.2.2) 8F305
AppleTV 4.3.0 8F455

The first build listen at the time netflix was broken for me so I trashed it, at that time I was using netflix, it's on hold now because I'm not using it, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Now both of those 4.3 builds after that my favorite tweaks were broken, either 'ScreenSaverSettings' or 'Overflow' or 'MainMenuSlideShow' These partially worked sometimes, but the custom settings menu was not showing as it wasn't compatible with the build I was trying, this means you could not set any settings for the mainmenuslideshow or the customscreensaver, also overflow would put your menu's inside overflow but would also leave them in the regular menu, thus not working either. I just live for these tweaks, for me having custom screensaver with all my own wallpaper and custom main menu slideshow is just beautiful + once you jailbreak you get more menu's like nitoTV, and w/e else you add which makes the scrolling from side to side really lame so many menu's thus Overflow was born, I now keep it nice and tity with just 4 menu's perfectly centered, 'Plex | NitoTV | Overflow | Settings' and it's just beautiful really.

Now before restoring of course I checked out plex and the latest 0.9.0 Beta 4 was compatible with 4.4.4 firmware, though I tested it on the firmware I had 8F202 and when using th gridview feature the aTV would just crash when going to TV or movies, now I wasn't convinced that it would not work on the 4.4.4 so I tried it out and all was good, I then realized after setting everything else up that no movie or tv show would play through plex uh oh, tinkered around a bit and finally found some info on plex forum, where you have to go to the Settings menu on the aTV and set Dolby from auto to ON and this seemed to fix the issue, there are some users still having trouble with this beta.... hence it's BETA so under testing, I checked a few 720p TV shows and Movies, MKV as I said before that's all I have really, that and slow lower quality AVI's

I will also mention that the new NitoTV version is nice, I'm pretty sure this feature was just added because I don't remember seeing it before, you can now view all your installed packages with nito and you see your sources and add sources etc, this is very promising, just like cydia can do yay initially because I installed everything by command line nito was not detecting the packages I had installed under the featured menu, but after I installed a package through there it then detected all the packages I had installed which I had done by command line, it's actually much faster and easier to get everything installed via command line, I just sit with my Mac on the couch haha

if you wondering exactly what packages I am run here are the package ID's you can apt-get install packagename for any of these if you want them.

That's pretty much it, install any of those will automatically grab the dependecies you need as well because additional packages are needed

I would like to also add that typically Cydia was always held back, but when I ran apt-get upgrade it wasnted to install that along with mobilesubstrate which I thought was kinda weird, I'm gonna do a little cleanup on the aTV and see if anything gets killed/broken, I think the AppleTV is never really thought about to much when updating stuff..... I really don't know what's required here so I'm not gonna say much more on this, I just know that these packages /usually/ are held back and I'm gonna figure out if I can do a little cleanup because that just seems weird, anyway that's my upgrade story I hope you enjoy it. Oh I'm gonna post one more fix which usually happens when installing one of the tweak above, I think it's either the screensaver or slideshow...... the permissions of root get changed and you wont be able to access my wallpapers or any directory in root for that matter and that's where those tweaks read from, this issue existed on all other firmware, it's caused by a deb. This will resolve it:

chmod 0755 /var/root

Also if your wondering a package installed changes the root directory to 750 where it should be 755, I'll see if I can find out which package is the cause and I may issue a quick fix to my repo is I can't get the author to fix this, it's existed for a long time and the author of these tweaks is the one who enlightened me about the permission fix and it still exists so I dunno WTF is going on..... quick fix coming at ya. Well that's about it for now.

One last thing, the custom screensaver has been updated too and it's pretty much some new animations I noticed, Enjoy

While ago we added the blog ticker which shows the recent blog posts, only the black color skin was finished. We now present you with every color finished. Now the blog ticker matches each color hehe

Sick and Tired.

Frankly I'm a little tired with the way some members have been acting at insanelyi, it seems that some members are getting a little too confortable around here and maybe don't notice that other members are getting pissed off. Numerous threads are popping up in lounge with little rants and raves, I'm getting PM's from members with different concerns about some forum members etc etc.

Regardless if your an Apple expert or a complete noob everyone wants to be treated the same way, WITH RESPECT! Unless your are an administrator or a moderator at this forum you do not have the right to decide what is right and wrong here, I continually read threads where members are calling out the original thread creator and often quite rudely, if you want to inform the original poster or someone else posting in a thread that they are breaking a rule, PLEASE DO IT WITH RESPECT, OR to make things really simple, report the user or the thread, you can do this with the report button and then an administrator or a moderator will decide what action if any will be taken. If your an iDevice expert, face it, you were once a noob! How would you like it if you visited a forum for the first time and the first thing anyone did was snap at you for the question you have asked, SMILE for once people, who cares that the same question has been asked time and time again, I have answered the same question many times, if you wanna help, find a thread with the answer and paste the link. We are a community looking to learn and help others learn, remember when your mom or dad tells you to smarten up! Well this is me telling you to smarten up ok

I honestly don't even care if you don't read our forum rules here, most members don't need to read the rules because they should have enough common sense to know what's right and wrong. That said, we would much prefer you do read the rules just to make sure your on the same page, thanks!

Another issue we have is the shoutbox, when we first started this forum we made a rule that there would be no support in the shoutbox, we have since slackened this, there is a lot of support given in the shoutbox, BUT this causes many many issues I see all the time, members often only hang around the shoutbox for a few minites, while someone is asking questions about restoring, some member pops up and is making a suggestion, some other member is also making a suggestion, the member with the actual problem hasn't fully explained what they have tried already etc etc, I come on line and start helping the member, all these members are all giving this one member different things to try, but nothing is working, so I say ok dude make a thread and document what you have done, within two posts I had this member all fixed up. All the member did was type down what hes trying to do, what he has tried, I read all of this and went OH OK, give me a quick answer BOOM DONE, while this member was sitting in the shoutbox for hours with people coming and going, nothing really helping. When I come to the shoutbox and tell you to make a thread, you should make a thread and your problem with be solved much quicker, you can give a lot more information about your issue and get a lot better answers. Most of the time the problem is that members are trying to get restore questions answered in the shoutbox, simple questions like 'hey, what's the latest version of redsn0w' are very easy to answer and are fine, but questions like 'I need to restore my iPhone, but its in bootloop, I need unlock, I don't know what SHSH is' <--- these questions just fire out of control every time, create a thread if you want support at insanelyi, I'm sick of seeing the same thing time and time again. On top of that, I have asked members many times create a thread, they never do, they just wait for someone else to pop up in the shoutbox and ask, face the facts people, you want support, create a damn thread and wait for someone to respond, you can easily create a link to your topic in the shoutbox and ask members to help you.

insanelyi is a great place for members of all ages to hang out, chat with others, get support, show off your work etc etc, this is my happy place, right now it's not that happy, lets turn those frowns upside down.

Now I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day.... with a smile.

I also forgot to mention the profanity being used in the shoutbox, I have had more than one complaint about it, again we are all guilty of it, yes I'm guilty, we all swear, but why bring such harsh profanity to the internet/shoutbox, I'm not saying you can't swear, lets just remember that there are a lot of younger crowd here, there are also a fair amount of women that visit this forum, you may not even be aware that some of the members your calling dude or man is actually a girl and I know some of these women would not want to be reading some of the crap you 'members' post in the shoutbox. Lets just keep it under control ok, thanks.
